Curation / Curating for Artists
Course

Ce cours fonctionne comme une introduction théorique et pratique au commissariat. Les participants sont invités à penser leur pratique photographique en termes de médiation auprès d'un public.

Le cours les encourage à réfléchir à la manière dont leur travail communiquera à travers les choix faits lors de la conception ainsi que dans la présentation finale. Il leur sera demandé d’imaginer des protocoles et des dispositifs qui prennent en compte le « spectateur » et peuvent orienter leur résultat final. Les étudiants pourront concevoir leur projet soit pour un espace physique, soit pour un espace numérique. Les participants seront invités à penser au-delà de l'exposition de gravures traditionnelle et à envisager des projets, des performances, des installations spécifiques au site et des stratégies participatives sur le Web.

Travaillant pratiquement avec leur propre travail, ils seront invités à éditer un portfolio, à concevoir une publication, à imaginer un résultat numérique et éventuellement une exposition dans l'espace.

This course works as a theoretical and practical introduction to curating. Participants are invited to think of their photographic practice in terms of mediation to an audience.

The course encourages them to consider how their work will communicate through the choices made during the conception, as well as the final presentation. They will be asked to imagine protocols and devices that take in consideration the ‘viewer’ and may orientate their final outcome. Students will be able to conceive their project either for a physical or a digital space. Participants will be invited to think beyond the traditional prints exhibition and consider web-based projects, performances, site-specific installations and participatory strategies

Working practically with their own work, they will be prompted to edit a portfolio, conceive a publication, imagine a digital outcome, and eventually an exhibition in space.
